IFA 2001 Sennheiser supports musical newcomers
“Young Media World” in Hall 2.1: Eight bands are showcasing live to IFA visitors. Sponsors include Sennheiser and VW Sound Foundation. Most bands are winners of the “Tour Factory” qualification rounds organized by Sound Foundation.“We see it as our duty to help young musicians on their road to success by providing professional stage equipment,” explains Rolf Meyer, President of Marketing and Sales at Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG. “We are pleased that such an interesting and colorful mixture of promising talent can be seen and heard here at the IFA.”
Dates and bands:
August 25, 13.30–14.00: “The Splash”
Splash & Idquo of Karlsruhe describe their style as “Sexy Bubblegum-Pop & Dash”. The five band members have all previously shown their class in several competitions. In Spring they won a three day studio session; at this year’s John Lennon Talent Award they reached the final round.
August 26, 13.30–14.00: “Starbuzz”
A compilation of four individual characters dedicated to pop music. Each buzzer is influenced by personal experience, like “culture crash drama”, “not feeling at home”, “life is not a party”. For the buzzers music is the common “end of the tunnel”.
August 27, 13.30- 14.00: “Soul ya click”
Hip-hop from Berlin. This band has one of the most professional images in Berlin, keeping their audience enthralled with music and two dancers. Motto: “if you’re lonely, click our home page”.
August 28, 13.30 –14.00: “KHS”
The music of this Berlin hip-pop band features not only samples but also live instruments, like a piano.
August 29 and 30, 13.00–14.10: “Cafehaus”
Hip-hop from Germany’s south, with five musicians rendering their interpretation of “porno-funk”. Rap with drums and trumpets, already previously much enjoyed at inter-regional events such as the Bizarre Festival and the New Pop Festival.
August 31, 14.20–15.20: “Sanah”
Pop-rock from near Hanover. This group, centered around charismatic singer Sabina Döring, plays laid-back pop reminiscent of Alanis Morisette.
September 1, 11.50–13.00: “Unbelievable Scenes”
This band from Cologne has been playing together since the mid-nineties. They are into hard line “grunge made in Germany”. Unbelievable Scenes have already played with “Coal Miners Beat” and the “Lemonbabies”, and recently were support act for “Such a Surge & Idquo”.
September 2, 13.30–14.00: “Neulich”
This band headed by Alex Friedrich plays straight German rock, and reached the final round of the “Tour Factory”. The song “Annemarie Erika, und sie ist so schön” is definitely destined for the charts.
