Sennheiser headphones adjudged the best

Sennheiser was presented with two awards at the ‘What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision Awards 2009’. The show stealers were the CX 300-II and the PXC 450. This is a reflection of Sennheiser’s commitment to unparalleled advanced technology, innovative designs and incredible sound quality.

The What Hi-Fi Awards are one of the much awaited awards presented once a year to the best products across the ‘Sound and Vision’ technology including TV, home cinema, headphones etc. The Sound and Vision team at What Hi-Fi review products all round the year to come up with the winners and this year they chose Sennheiser’s CX 300-II and PXC 450 in the ‘Best Headphones of the Year’ category.

The CX 300-II offers a powerful, bass-driven stereo sound with greater clarity and improved dynamics. The various sizes of ear adapters (S/M/L sizes) provided in the package allow for a great personalized fit as well as a high passive attenuation of ambient noise. Also, the asymmetrical cable design ensures a high wearing comfort as you listen on the go. It is optimised for MP3, iPod, iPhone, CD players and portable gaming systems.

The PXC 450 is a high-end travel headphone set with NoiseGard 2.0 technology and TalkThrough function for the best possible attenuation of ambient noise. The PXC 450 enables an unprecedented sound experience for people on the move, thanks to its adaptive baffle damping in combination with the patented Duofol diaphragms, which prevent unwanted partial oscillation and thus guarantee a highly natural, lifelike sound quality. NoiseGard is an active noise compensation system which Sennheiser originally developed for use by pilots. It actively compensates the noise, based on the physics principle of sound and counter-sound thereby blocking all irrelevant sounds and giving you only what you want to hear. Users of a PXC 450 who wish to communicate with their neighbours can do so without taking off the headphones: when the TalkThrough function is activated, professional quality microphones mounted on the outside of the headphones pick up all acoustic signals in the immediate vicinity. Unwanted background noise, such as the sound of the engines on a plane, is filtered out electronically to a great extent, so that only the neighbour’s voice is passed on through the headphones into the user’s ear in top audio quality.
