FAQ
When do I need a discussion system?
A meeting or a discussion consisting of over 10 people can benefit from a discussion system. The speaker´s voices are amplified by the microphone and loudspeakers, making it easier for participants to follow along. The discussion system is especially beneficial during long sessions, as it can increase participants’ concentration and efficiency, and even reduce vocal strain.
What is the advantage of a discussion system?
A discussion system such as ADN offers certain benefits for keeping large meetings and conferences on track. For example, different "Conference Modes" allow the user to control the way a microphone can be activated and how many participants can speak at the same time. In addition, an optional built-in speech timer can alert the speaker as to when it is time to wrap up their speech presentation.
Which discussion mode should I use?
You have a choice of three different discussion modes. The "Direct Access" mode allows you to open a specific amount of microphones and activate request-to-speak entries automatically once a position is available. In "Request" mode, the chairperson or technician can activate the delegate’s microphones by using a button, software or media control system. In "Push-to-talk" mode, the user depresses the microphone button only while speaking, ensuring deactivation of the microphone once he or she is finished.
How many units can I supply with my ADN CU1 central unit?
The ADN CU1 supplies 1 to 400 units. The exact amount depends on the cable length from the central unit to the first discussion unit and between the units. With an average of 2m (or around 6 ft.) between the units, the CU1 can support approximately 40 discussion units. You can easily extend the amount of units with the ADN PS power supply and additionally support 40 to 60 units per ADN PS. A room and cable layout can be quickly calculated with the free ADN Cable Calculator (link).
Can I use my own CAT5 cables with ADN?
Yes, with a 24AWG diameter Shielded-Twisted-Pair cable type you can support system interconnection and create customized lengths.
How can I record my conference sessions with ADN?
The easiest way is to use the new USB conference recording mode, allowing you to track each microphones individually in a .wav file with a mix of the floor channel. Furthermore, if you prefer to use existing recording equipment or other formats, you can use the XLR output with a 3rd party recording device/software.
Can I connect a USB HUB to connect more than one USB storage device?
Yes, you can connect a USB-HUB to the ADN CU1 central unit. This allows you to use a keyboard, mouse and a USB device, such as a USB hard disk, at the same time.
I do not speak German. Can I read the display?
The ADN system is equipped with 13 different languages, allowing you to operate the CU1 display menu or Conference Manager software as well as all manual documentation in the following languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish.
Do I need to use an additional PA system in my conference room?
This depends on your room. When we designed ADN, we placed significant efforts in engineering the system to guarantee the best possible voice intelligibility from any conference system on the market. The twin loudspeakers allow high output power to ensure a homogenous listening experience from every seat in the conference room. Combined with the directive super-cardioid microphone capsules, the ADN system achieves a high gain before feedback, allowing you to treat your ears and voice with care. We suggest you try the system without an additional PA first, and then add one later if needed.
