Sennheiser and Super Bowl
05.02.2002 New Orleans
When the most American of all sporting events, the Super Bowl XXXVI, took place in New Orleans, nobody thought of Germany – even if the German football league is doing their best to promote their sport! But when it came to the Super Bowl show, the German microphone specialist Sennheiser electronic played a very important role. As in previous years, the superstars of showbiz performed with RF wireless microphones from Sennheiser.

Whether the Backstreet Boys in 2001 or Paul McCartney and U2 for Super Bowl 2002 – stable RF wireless transmission and excellent sound quality were the prime requirements for the pre-game show, the National Anthem and the half-time show. No wonder that the organizers again reverted to Sennheiser’s tried and tested RF wireless systems. More than 250 million fans in front of their TV sets enjoyed great sound, as did a thrilled audience of 100,000 at the stadium.

Paul McCartney and U2 frontman Bono used Sennheiser’s top-of-the-range wireless mic, the SKM 5000, for their live performances. Solid RF, excellent sound quality and unparalleled range make the SKM 5000 the ideal partner for reliable sound transmissions under the adverse conditions of a stressful live show. Rolf Meyer, president and speaker of Sennheiser’s executive board, on the organizers’ microphone choice: ”The sound engineers of both artists and broadcasters know that only Sennheiser RF wireless microphones are able to master such a challenge.”

As enthusiastic fans of the New England Patriots, the RF wireless specialists of Sennheiser’s New England based US subsidiary would have liked to celebrate a bit longer. But they had to leave for Salt Lake City, on to the next mega event where Sennheiser microphones will ensure optimum sound…

As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of microphones, headphones and wireless transmission systems, the Sennheiser Group with its headquarters in Wedemark near Hanover, Germany, had total sales of over € 220 million in 2001. The export share is 80%. Sennheiser has a total workforce of more than 1,400 employees, of whom about 800 are employed in Germany. Sennheiser is active world-wide and, in addition to other partnerships, has its own sales subsidiaries in France, the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands, China, Singapore, Canada, Mexico and the USA.
